MINDFUL SNACKING

We’ve worked with mindful eating experts and behavioral scientists since 2014 to develop and validate our Mindful Snacking platform. Through our platform, we encourage mindful snacking behaviors by sharing practical tips and communicating the benefits of mindful eating. Plus, we're including our Snack Mindfully icon on product packs to get information to consumers while they enjoy their snack. Want to learn more?

OUR SUSTAINABLE COCOA

Our Cocoa Life program is our global cocoa sustainability program designed to ensure cocoa is made right and safeguard a sustainable future for this essential ingredient. “Making it right” means tackling the complex challenges that cocoa farmers face, like climate change, gender inequality, poverty and child labor. It also means the Cocoa Life partners work directly with cocoa suppliers and development NGOs contributing to sector-wide collaboration in our key sourcing regions to support the shift to a more sustainable cocoa supply chain.

Today we’re proud to say that Cadbury Dairy Milk cocoa is sustainably sourced through Cocoa Life, and by 2025 we’re aiming to say the same for all Cadbury products.

WHEN WE DESIGN OUR PACKAGING FOR A CIRCULAR ECONOMY, WE ASK OURSELVES THREE BIG QUESTIONS:

#1 - HOW CAN WE REDUCE THE AMOUNT OF PACKAGING WE CREATE?

Small design changes can have a big impact! For the 2021 easter season in the UK, we removed over 6.4 million plastic windows from our remaining Cadbury shell eggs, taking 5.4 tonnes of virgin plastic out of the environment and making them easier for consumers to recycle.

#2 - HOW CAN WE MAKE THE BEST POSSIBLE PACKAGING?

We explore ways to design our packaging to be recyclable and replace materials that are difficult to recycle. We also aim to reduce use of virgin plastic by incorporating recycled content into our packages, which also helps to create a market for recycled plastic which is vital to help realize a more circular economy.

#3- HOW CAN WE IMPROVE THE CHANCES THAT OUR PACKAGING GETS COLLECTED, SORTED AND RECYCLED?

Our goal is to provide recycling information to consumers in various ways, including on pack and via digital platforms like SnackingRight. We are also engaging with organizations such as the New Plastics Economy, UK Plastics Pact, US Plastic Pact and Canada Plastic Pact and working together with governments, the private sector and NGOs.
